  • Why did you choose to be a Brooks Gives Back Board Member?
    • I was born and raised on the Southside just a stone’s throw from Brooks. It was always this mysterious Air Force base with a tall fence and a guard house at the entrance. There were many rumors about the type of work there, but the work we did know about was very important to the NASA program of the 1960s. So, now that Brooks has evolved into a premiere, world-class development, right in my old neighborhood, I was thrilled to be able to sit on the board and help with the revitalization of Brooks and the surrounding neighborhood.
  • You are a talk show host, who is your first guest?
    • Hillary Clinton. I think it is amazing now to look in retrospect at how clear and accurate her assessment of what would transpire during the last administration. She seems to have a comprehensive and well-informed sense of where we are as a country our place in the world now and in the future. As time has gone on, I have become more impressed with her as a statesman and leader.
  • If you were given a one-minute ad slot during the Super Bowl that you couldn’t sell, what would you fill it with?
    • I’d use it to promote career pathways in the trades that do not require a college degree. For many residents in our community, these are the right answer. They like working with their hands. They like tangible problem-solving. They don’t like sitting in a college class for four years and racking up tens of thousands of dollars in school loans.
  • What problem or situation did TV or movies make you think would be common, but when you grew up you found out it wasn’t?
    • Being stranded on a desert island with a professor, a millionaire and his wife, a movie star, a young farm girl and the skipper!
